British Girl-Group Flo Collaborates With Legendary American Artist, Missy Elliot On ‘Fly Girl’

FLO’S “FLY GIRL” DEFINITION: “Our Fly Girl is the embodiment of strength, empowerment, attitude, and community. She/he/they/them/ are not shaped by what society deems beautiful or acceptable, but a member of an inclusive environment that accepts and embraces femininity in all its glory. We are hardworking independent fly girls who get the job done, and have fun while doing it.”

British girl-group and history makers, FLO collaborates with platinum-selling artist, Missy Elliot on Fly Girl. The already viral single on TikTok reveals a new era of a fly girl, through words of empowerment, effortless harmonising and fusion of both old and new school RnB. The trio - Renée Downer, Stella Quaresma, and Jorja Douglas evidently have an ear for music. Established as the next rising stars to watch, Missy Elliot has proudly co-signed the group following the breakthrough release of Cardboard Box, which fans assured was brought to her attention by tagging her on the post. Strengthening their relations further, FLO sampled Missy’s 2x platinum single ‘Work It’ and found inspiration in her lyrics. That’s right, the iconic “If you a fly girl, get your nails done, get a pedicure, get your hair did”.

Now, “’Fly Girl’ is all about confidence, good vibes and feeling your best. It’s a lively, feel good song that still incorporates clever lyrics and fire vocals, if we do say so ourselves,” said the band. “It’s quite literally a perfect fusion of old school meets modern day R&B, with a nod to and feature from the original fly girl Missy Elliott herself. We love it and are so happy to be putting out a song that can hopefully make whoever plays it feel confident and most importantly, fly.” states FLO.

But let’s get into Missy Elliot’s experience with the ladies. She confirms “Working with FLO has been nothing less than amazing. I remember a few of their fans sent me clips of their performances, and I immediately felt the authentic 90’s vibe. I loved the fact they all sang lead so well—great vocal control—so when I was asked to be a part of the ‘Fly Gir’ record, it was a no brainer. They used the inspiration from my song ‘Work It’, and I felt they did it justice. I enjoyed it and I believe they have a long, great career ahead of them.
