Wretch 32 Returns With "Black and British" Featuring Little Simz

“Sometimes you're a fly on the wall in your own house or a ear to the wall for your neighbours, both views represent the black British experience” - Wretch 32

Wretch 32 marks a powerful return with single, Black and British featuring Little Simz and Benjamin AD. Released within Black History Month, the ground and boundary breaking artists have unleashed a bold statement that explores the Black British experience. The lowkey and melancholic beat combined with Wretch 32 and Little Simz’s moving lyricism speaks on the collective and individual experiences of heritage, pride and marginalisation. Black representation and activism runs deeply in Wretch 32’s family history. His grandmother, Beverley Scott is sampled at the end of the track , taken from ‘Scenes From The Farm’ Broadwater Farm estate documentary,  first televised in 1988.

Furthermore, the music video directed by Meeks and Frost was shot at the Brunswick Art Gallery. Set to open in 2025, Black and British was captured against a backdrop of an exhibition displaying archival images of Black British culture. The works of Michael Gordon, Shaquille-Aaron Keith, Teoni Hinds, Kandre Aramide Hassan are featured in the visual, supporting the moments of community, love, family and joy - revealing a multifaceted portrait of Black British life.

“So honoured to be able to join Wretch on this song along with Benjamin A.D Wretch’s storytelling is unmatched and this song is a true representation of what it means to be black and British” - Little Simz

A “Black and British” teaser campaign launched earlier this week featuring Chuckie, Esther, Raspect, Jordy, Viddal Riley, Avelino, Zeze Mills, Bashy, Posty, Just Geen, Dina Asher-Smith, Rimzee, Jeanette Kwakye, Millionz, Remi Burgz, Tiggs Da Author and more.
