5 Senior Creatives In The Fashion Industry
This week, an inspiring and pivotal moment for upcoming Black British fashion brands took place. Loud brand Studios was featured in numerous fashion publications: Fashion Bomb Daily, Vogue, Grazia, Daily Mail, after socialite Kylie Jenner sported their Vashtie limited dress. We also saw, beauty enthusiasts and influencer, Aaliyah Jay express her interest in the That’s So Raven jumpsuit - created by NAÉTIV.
Following the success of Black Brits in fashion this week, we decided to put together a list of 5 Senior creatives in the fashion publishing industry - to inspire and motivate you. These individuals continue to make a difference within the industry, promoting, hiring and sharing Black stories, experiences, and identities through their platforms and God-given talents.
EDWARD ENNINFUL
Editor in Chief at British Vogue
Enninful was named youngest fashion director at the International publication, ID magazine. A role he obtained and held for over two decades. Within his journey, he later became fashion editor at Italian and American Vogue but was eventually appointed Editor in Chief at British Vogue. Edward Enninful became the first Black person and man to take on the role.
TONI BLAZE
Editor in Chief at Wonderland Magazine
The Central Saint Martins Alumni worked as a stylist for sometime and interned at Wonderland magazine. Blaze progressed from assistant, junior then senior level at Wonderland. This is massively inspiring for many, showcasing the importance of perseverance, determination and progression within a workplace one truly admires.
IBRAHIM KAMARA
Senior Fashion Editor at ID Magazine
Kamara first discovered styling when studying at Central Saint Martins. The stylist later began assisting prominent names from Barry Kamen to Judy Blame, progressing to pivotal creative and commercial projects for Vogue, Dior, Nike and many more.
JOHNSON GOLD
Founder and Editor in Chief at Pause Magazine
As founder of one of the biggest male magazines Pause, Gold’s previous experiences as a graphic designer and stylist has moulded his creative eye and ability. Gold ensured to expand his services and abilities beyond menswear, creating a sister platform for women. That’s right - it’s called PAUSE HER.
VANESSA KINGORI
Publishing Director at British Vogue
Kingori is best known for her transformation at GQ magazine, previously working as a publisher at the publishing house Condé Nast for nine years. She's an award winning business woman both in Africa and the UK, additionally receiving an MBE from the British Queen for her services.
