Get Out actor, Daniel Kaluuya has been announced as Roundhouse’s new Associate Artistic Director. Situated near Camden, the first act of his role will see Kaluuya creating a new youth theatre named Centre 59. Aimed to help and work with young people aged 13-25, the company will develop their skills and passion in the performing arts. What truly makes this partnership great is, classes at the Roundhouse will be a maximum of £2 an hour. Kaluuya hopes to create an inclusive space for the younger generation.

Speaking on the announcement, Kaluuya wrote on Instagram: ‘I attended some of my first drama classes as a teen [at the Roundhouse]…It’s important to build a foundation and infrastructure for the next generation and I am excited to be doing that with Roundhouse.’

Evidently, Marcus Davey, chief executive and artistic director of the Roundhouse supports this vision as he states: ‘Welcoming Daniel back to the Roundhouse as Associate Artistic Director is a huge honour. Since his time here as a teenager, we have watched in awe as Daniel has gone on to become a household name, in the UK and across the world. Daniel is proof of what can happen when you give young people the space and opportunity to express themselves and develop their creativity.’
